RAGBRAI to cross northern Hancock County
When the Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) comes in July, the 2025 northern route across across Iowa will include the Hancock County communities of Woden and Crystal Lake en route to an overnight stop in Forest City.
RAGBRAI LII will “Take Flight” on July 19-26, starting at Orange City, with overnight stops at Milford, Estherville, Forest City, Iowa Falls, Cedar Falls, Oelwein and ending in Guttenberg.
Riders will travel 71.4 miles from Estherville to Forest City on Day 3 of the ride (Tuesday, July 22). On Day 4, (Wednesday, July 23) the route heads south from Forest City to Iowa Falls. On the way, riders will pass through Ventura, Meservey, Alexander, Latimer and Coulter.
RAGBRAI is the largest recreational cycling tour in the world, according to the RAGBRAI website. The ride was founded in 1973 by two Des Moines Register columnists: John Karras and Donald Kaul. The ride attracts participants from all 50 states and many foreign countries.
