Jonathan S. Dodd, 44, of Garner, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at his home.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
Jonathan Scott Dodd, the son of Scott and Ruby (Potter) Dodd, was born on July 6, 1981, in Mason City, Iowa. Jon grew up in Garner with his brothers Joe and Tom Dodd, and graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 2000. He continued his education at North Iowa Area Community College, completing the Tool and Die program and earning his Associate’s Degree. Jon was faithfully employed at Plas-Tech Tooling from his high school years onward, most recently serving as a Lead Production Machinist.
On September 25, 2004, Jon married the love of his life, Megan Zenor, at Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church in Garner. Together they were blessed with three children: Samuel, Bradley, and Chelsea. The kids enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting with their dad.
Jon was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church. He had a strong faith and set a good example of how to be a Christian man, husband, and father.
Jon loved the outdoors and was happiest when hunting, fishing, working on cars, or building something with his hands. Since he was young, the family made a cherished yearly fishing trip to Whaley’s Resort on Many Point Lake in Minnesota. He also enjoyed snowmobiling adventures with friends and memorable vacations to Wyoming.
Jon was strong-willed and independent, and yet was always ready to learn from his mentors and share his knowledge with anybody willing to learn. Those closest to him knew he had a soft heart especially for babies, his farm kittens, and his hunting dogs. He loved his wife and children, always making them his priority. He cared deeply and showed his love through guidance, hard work, dedication, and providing for those he cherished. He was always willing to help his family and friends. In 2021, he built their family’s home, a project he took immense pride in.
Jon lived by a simple but meaningful motto: “If you’re going to do it… do it right.”
He is survived by his wife Megan and children Sam, Brad and Chelsea Dodd; his father Scott and his father’s wife Diane; his mother’s husband John Golnick; parents-in-law Shawn and Karen Zenor; brothers Joseph Dodd and Thomas (Racine) Dodd; sisters-in-law Kassi (Melissa) Zenor and Amanda (Will) Stromer; grandmother Verneil Quintus, nieces and nephews: Carson, Callie, Marissa, Kathleen, Erica, Blaine, Alexis, Isabel, and Evelyn along with many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ruby, paternal grandfather Robert Dodd, and maternal grandparents Galen and Alice Potter.
