Howard W. Jutting, 88, of Kanawha, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the Kanawha Community Home.

Funeral services for Howard Jutting will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church, 129 East 3rd Street, in Kanawha.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Home, 118 East Second Street in Kanawha and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Howard Wayne Jutting, the son of George and Minnie (Jurgens) Jutting, was born on January 14, 1936, in Buffalo Center.  His mother died when he was two years old and his father later married Stena Tiedens.  He grew up in Buffalo Center before he enlisted in the United States Army in January 1956.  He served overseas in Germany driving army tanks and was honorably discharged in 1957.

While in Germany, Howard wrote and received many letters from Birdene Luppen.  Upon his return, the couple was united in marriage on September 26, 1958.  The couple moved to their acreage outside of Kanawha, where they raised their children, farmed and happily lived for 59 years.

Howard was a man of many traits—faithful, hardworking, and always ready to lend a hand. He spent most of his adult life on the farm, working the land with dedication, but he was also a regular at the local coffee shop, where he could be found chatting with friends or strangers alike. A man of strong faith, Howard faced life’s challenges with quiet strength and was known for his generosity, always willing to do anything for anyone. He loved playing cards, often bending the rules for a bit of fun, and his kindness, humor, and willingness to serve others made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him.  He will be greatly missed.

Howard is survived by his children Eileen Jutting of Johnston and Randy (Carla) Jutting of Huxley; five grandchildren Amy (Steven) Follmuth, Randi (Trevor) Harms, Beckie (Kaden Cameron) Jutting, Grace Jutting, and Hanna Jutting; four great grandchildren Kinzlee Ann, Dylann Quinn, Wyatt Howard and Scotlynn Connie; siblings Margaret Irons, Stella (Brian) Ainslie, David (Mary) Tiedens, Roger (Bev) Jutting and Janet Jutting along with many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Birdene, brother Gerald Jutting and sister Ruth Akkermann.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kanawha Community Home or the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church.
