Vivian Pritchard
Vivian Rose (Wellik) Pritchard passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the age of 88 at Britt Memorial Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 139 3rdStreet Southeast in Britt. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024 at Ewing Funeral Home, 178 Center Street in Britt with a Rosary service beginning at 4:30 p.m. and a Scriptural Wake following visitation at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Vivian’s family for their discretion.
Born on October 25, 1935 to Joseph and Mildred (Kopacek) Wellik, Vivian graduated from Britt High School. Vivian was active in band, was crowned homecoming queen, Miss Britt and the North Iowa Band Festival queen. Following high school, Vivian worked for Iowa Electric Light and Power Company in Britt. She was united in marriage to William Pritchard on December 28, 1955 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan, Iowa. Bill and Vivian were blessed with seven children.
Vivian was a loving wife and mother. She had a gift for baking kolaches and rohlikies. Vivian had a strong faith, loved playing cards, golf, tending to her flowers, polka music, traveling with Bill and spending time with her family. Vivian loved baking her chocolate chip cookies for the neighbor kids, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Enjoying many different activities, family, and friends, Vivian was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Red Hat Ladies and active in St. Patrick's parish. Vivian's strong faith gave her comfort and peace. Vivian, along with her sister, Millie, opened and ran the Vi-Mil women's clothing store in Britt for over 15 years. Vivian led a very blessed and full life, touching many lives with her wisdom, humor, and generosity. She will be dearly missed by all.
Vivian is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bill; children Laura Wermerskirchen, Renee Diemer, Tom Marolt, John (Kathy) Pritchard, Sheila (Jerry) Finch, Joe (Pam) Pritchard, and Vivian Pritchard; 23 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings: Joe (Gloria) Wellik, Millie (Paul) Horstman, Marvin (Kay) Wellik, and Jerry (Kathy) Wellik.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Maureen Marolt; parents, Joseph and Mildred Wellik; parents-in-law John and Dorothy Pritchard; siblings Elmer and Monica (Leonard); grandchildren Kathryn Pritchard and Danny Pritchard; great-grandson Theodore Griebel; son-in-law Dan Wermerskirchen; and sisters-in-law Sal Pritchard and Mary (Keith) Sillman.
