WH Boys Golf at Conference Meet

The Eagles had their final meets of the 2024 season last week as they competed at their conference and sectional meets. The Eagles took eighth place at conference, and fourth at sectionals.  
WH Boys Compete at Conference Meet
On Monday, May 6, the West Hancock boys golf team competed at the Top of Iowa West Conference golf meet at Eagle Grove and took eighth out of eight teams. 
Lake Mills won the meet with a score of 328, Forest City took a narrow second with a score of 329, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura came in third with 333 strokes, Belmond-Klemme and Bishop Garrigan tied at 345, North Union took sixth with a score of 365, Eagle Grove had 387 strokes, and West Hancock had a score of 394.
Briggs Muthm was the Eagles’ top finisher, taking a five-way tie score of 94 for 25th place overall. Zach Beukema tied at 32nd place with 97 strokes.
Coen Witte came in 37th place with 101 strokes. Paxton Johnson had 102 strokes for a three-way tie for 38th place. 
Reagan Johnson came in 39th with 103 strokes. Reagan Johnson took 41st with 103 strokes. 
Eagles Take 4th at Sectionals
The Eagles boys golf team competed at the 1A Sectional golf meet hosted by GTRA on Wednesday, May 8 at Graettinger. The Eagles took fourth place out of five teams, with two more teams not filling out complete rosters.
Bishop Garrigan won the meet with a score of 332, North Union took second at 335, followed by GTRA with 349, West Hancock had 377 strokes, and West Bend-Mallard had a score of 378. 
 “This was by far the nicest day we had all spring. These boys are fun to watch and I am very proud of them. The last meet of the year they shot their best 18 holes,” said Head Coach Jade Johnson. 
Zach Beukema came in a three-way tie for ninth place with 88 strokes. Paxton Johnson was close behind with 91 strokes for 12th place. 
Briggs Muth tied for 16th with a score of 98. Coen Witte tied at 19th with 100 strokes.
Reagan Johnson tied for 22nd with 104 strokes. Owen Fish took 26th place with a score of 116.
 “These were a great group of boys to work with, and I am excited for next year! Keep swinging, the sky’s the limit,” said Coach Johnson.
