Cards Fall to Broncos and Golden Bears

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals (5-5) had two games last week, in which they lost to the Belmond-Klemme Broncos (6-3) and the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears (3-6). 

Cards Fall to Belmond-Klemme

On Tuesday, September 5 the Garner-Hayfield Ventura volleyball (5-4) played Belmond-Klemme (6-3) at home, losing the game with two extra sets. 

The Broncos won the first set by a score of 18-25. The Cards won the next two by scores of 25-17 and 25-23. The Broncos won the next two in a row by scores of 25-21 and 15-13. 

The Cards totaled 50 assists, 52 kills, 13 blocks, a whopping 98 digs, and 11 serve aces. 

Ali Hess led the team with 19 kills, 24 digs, one assist, and two aces. Gretta Gouge also had 19 kills, one assist, nine blocks, eight digs, and three serve aces. Sydney Helgeson had seven kills, three assists, and three digs. 

Aly Derr and Ali Hess both had 24 digs, one assist and two aces. Kenedee Frayne racked up 27 assists, three kills, 13 digs, one block, and two aces. Patience Katter had 19 digs, 20 assists, and three kills. Valerie Welsh had one kill, seven digs, and two aces. 

Cards Fall to Bishop Garrigan 

The Cardinals volleyball team (5-5) traveled Algona to play Bishop Garrigan (3-6) on Thursday, September 7th and lost the match in three sets.

The Cards lost by set scores of 19-25, 12-25, and 19-25. As a team, GHV totaled 13 assists, 14 kills, eight blocks, 79 digs, and four serve aces. 

Ali Hess led the team in kills with five, while adding 18 digs, and a serve ace. Gretta Gouge had three kills, three blocks, and 13 digs. Kenedee Frayne had two kills, five assists, 14 digs, and one ace. Valarie Welsh had two kills, one assist, one block, four digs, and one ace. 

Patience Katter had one kill, seven assists, one block, and 10 digs. Aly Derr had 17 digs, one assist, and one ace. Sydney Helgeson had one kill, three blocks, and two digs.
