GHV Boys Soccer Players Receive Awards

GARNER– The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys soccer team received several post-season honors in 2023, with two all state selections and two all conference selections. GHV’s coach also received an honor, and one player will be going on to play soccer at the collegiate level.

Bronson Buitenwerf was selected as a 1st team Class 1A All State defender — the first in school history. He was also a 1st Team North Central Conference selection as defender.

Beyond all conference and all state selections, Buitenwerf was asked to play in the IAHSSCA East/West All Star Game as a defender for the East team. He was one of 18 seniors selected for the honor.

GHV Head Coach Josh Banse was selected to coach the East Team in the game. 

Aidan Schisel received Class 1A All State Honorable Mention as a defender.

Abraham Fuentes was a North Central Conference 2nd Team Mid-Fielder selection. Fuentes also signed on to play collegiate soccer at NIACC next fall.
