GHV superintendent tests positive for COVID-19
The superintendent of Garner-Hayfield-Community School has tested positive for the corona virus. Tyler Williams notified parents via an email letter on March 25.
"There is nothing more important to me than the safety of our students, staff and families,” he said. "Please know that I am working directly with county health officials to address this situation.”
He is currently is quarantined at home with family.
Williams recently returned from a trip to Mexico.
“Talking with Public Health and working backwards, they believe I got the virus on our travels home, likely from the airplane,” he said in a later comment to The Leader.
“This virus is likely to rapidly grow,” he said. “Please follow all the guidelines being placed in front of us.”
CDC guidelines include:
●Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
●Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
●Avoid close contact with those who are sick.
●Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your sleeve.
●Avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose.
●Disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects.
