KANAWHA - Most communities have a list of projects or amenities they would like to see happen. For the town of Kanawha, that list includes once again having a restaurant/bar or café.

Enter Mayor Gloria Sobek. Sobek is spearheading efforts to attract someone interested in starting one.

“We have nothing right now,” said Sobek. “We have no competition whatsoever.”

The Titanium Lunch Box closed their Kanawha location about two years ago.

“We would like to get somebody who has some interest then we can figure out what we can do,” she said.

Sobek said there are a couple of potential locations in Kanawha.

“We’re at a point where I feel we can get some low-interest loans. I’m also looking for investors. We’re just trying to find someone who can do the job.”

The city posted the announcement on its Facebook page. Interested persons may contract Sobek at 515-293-1174.
