Three Golds for GHV Wrestling

FOREST CITY  – On Saturday, Jan. 11, the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura wrestling team competed in the 2025 Forest City Invitational. The Cards finished with three gold medals and a fourth-place finish in the event. 

Gunner Fry wrestled at 106 and went 2-2, finishing fifth. He lost in a 2-18 technical fall to Teague Alesch of Algona. He then defeated Aiden Doty of NBC by fall at 1:05. Fry lost in the consolation semis to Jayden Cline of NFV by fall at 4:59. He won his final match over Konnor Blume of RS by fall at 3:45. 

Reid Hendrikson also wrestled 106 for the Cards and went 0-2. He lost to Aiden Doty of NBC before falling to Konnor Blume by fall at 0:52. 

Kaleb Feld competed at 113 and finished first with a 2-0 record. He started with a technical fall win, 18-0 over Henry Becthold of NFV. He then took gold with a win by fall at 0:20 over Nathan Stofferan of Okoboji/HMS. 

Samuel Katter wrestled 120 and went 0-2. He lost his first match by fall at 1:28 to Kade Meyer of NFV. Katter was eliminated with a 2-17 technical fall loss to Deegan Moore of FC.

Keith Johnson wrestled 126 and finished 0-2. He lost his first match to Kyson Moss of NFV by fall at 0:51. He then lost to Jseb Prestholt of CL in a 9-11 decision. 

Aiden Schulze competed at 132 and went 0-2. He lost by fall at 0:46 to Maddox Morrison of NBC. He then forfeited with an injury in a match against Blake Loof of RS.

Jace Hendrikson wrestled at 138 and went 0-2. He lost by fall at 1:50 to Jaxson Lundgren of NFV. He was eliminated following a loss to Brady Long of RS in a 3-14 major decision. 

Dennis Beery competed at 144 and went 0-3. He lost by fall at 1:14 to Tate Germann of NFV. He then lost by a 4-19 technical fall to Jack Bartels of NBC. He was eliminated after a 4-21 technical fall loss to Rhyker Wright of Okoboji/HMS.

Lucas Kral wrestled at 157 and went 2-0 for first place. He won by a 2-17 technical fall over Alex Rouse of Okoboji/HMS. He then took gold with a win over Aiden Hippen of CL by fall at 2:56. 

John Fuentes wrestled 165 and went 0-2. He lost to Raif Baack of CL by fall at 0:41. He was then defeated by Aiden Havenstrite of NFV by fall at 1:03.

Parker Moritz wrestled at 190 and went 3-0 for first place. He won his first match over Dylan Thorn of NBC in a 3-20 technical fall win. Moritz then defeated Jack Hackman of CL by fall at 1:43. Moritz then defeated Brody Shipler of Algona in a 4-0 decision for gold. 

Nathan Maas wrestled at 215 for GHV and went 0-2. He lost his first match to Foster Myhre of Algona by fall at 0:41. Maas was eliminated with a loss by fall at 1:01 to McCabe Gansen of NBC. 

Dominic Holder competed at 285 and finished fourth with a record of 2-2. Holder won his first match by fall at 3:02 over Jack Limbaugh of Algona. Holder lost to Layne Kleppe of NFV by fall at 4:40. He then followed with a fall victory at 2:00 over Keyshawn Smith of Okoboji/HMS. Holder lost his third-place match to Jack Limbaugh of Algona in a 12-25 major decision loss.
