Ruth Ann Slagle, 84, of Garner, Iowa, passed away Friday, May 30 at Heritage Care and rehabilitation Center in Mason City. Memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses on Sunday, June 18 at 2 p.m. Internment of ashes will be at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
Ruth was born in Sherburn, Minn. to Harold and Mary Frisbie on Aug. 15, 1938. She went to school in Lake Mills and graduated in 1957. She married Dale Slagle on August 1, 1963. Together they had four children, Dawn Lanae, Douglas Harold, Allen DeWight, and Justin Wade.
She work as a stay-at-home mom raising children until later in life, when she cleaned houses, local businesses and worked as a short-order cook at the Colony Inn in Ventura.
Ruth loved visiting with family and friends, reading the Bible, singing and playing music, gardening, animals, serving others and a good laugh.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Dale, daughter Dawn, son Douglas, son Justin, sister Laura Mae, brother Clarence; parents Harold and Mary Frisbie, and many other loved ones and friends.
Ruth is survived by her son Allen Slagle (Rachel) of Little Elm, Texas, daughter-in-law Lisa Slagle of Tomball, Texas, brother Danny Frisbie (Mary) of Thornton, Iowa, brother Larry Frisbie (Diane) of Texas, and grandson, Bryce Slagle (Caitlan), of Anna, Texas; sister-in-law Jean Wilson, sister-in-law Nancy, niece Sue Wilson, niece Carolyn “Wink”, niece Devana Maher and many other nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
The family of Ruth wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Brenda Kienast for loving and caring for Mom, Chris Ouverson for caring for Mom and Dad, the staff at Heritage Care Center, and to the many people who visited and made her life enjoyable.
