Ricky L. Corrick
Ricky “Rick” L. Corrick, age 72, of Friendswood, Texas passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.
Rick was born on January 31, 1952, in Marshall, Missouri, to parents Betty and Gilbert. Rick grew up in Nebraska before moving to Colorado. He graduated from Bear Creek High School in Morrison, Colorado, in 1970. He married his wife, Dawn, on July 26, 1980. They raised their daughters, Barbara and Teresa, in Garner, Iowa. He spent his career selling furniture for McGregor’s Furniture in Mason City, Iowa, where he made many great friends over the years. Rick retired to Friendswood, Texas, in 2017 and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was also an avid sports fan, especially of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Twins, and the Denver Broncos.
Rick was a member of Redeemer Church in Manvel, Texas. Rick and Dawn joined a Growth Group at Redeemer, where he continued to grow in his faith and in his fellowship with his church family. In November of 2023, Rick recommitted his faith in Jesus Christ through baptism. Rick had a servant's heart and proudly volunteered his time and talents in service to the church. He could be found greeting worshippers at the church’s east doors almost every Sunday!
Rick’s infectious laughter, beaming smile, sense of humor, generosity, and kindness will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Rick showed great courage and dignity in his final weeks of life.
Rick is survived by his wife, Dawn, daughters Barbara (Mitchell) Albritton and Teresa (Matthew) Hockett, twin sister Rita (Gerald) Urich, brothers Tom (Donna) Corrick and Jerry (Karla) Corrick, grandchildren Violet Jay, Cyrus, Jack, Emma, and Hazel, and his dog Max, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Corrick and Betty and Arthur Hejlik.
Visitation will be held from 6:00PM – 8:00PM on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 9:30AM on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Redeemer Church in Manvel, Texas. The interment will follow in the Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.
