CORWITH - Jeraldine “Jeri” Ann Elizabeth Peterson 78, passed away on Sunday, January 4th, 2026, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center, after a long battle with cancer.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 8th, 2026, at Corwith Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Luncheon Visitation adine will immediately follow the service at the American Legion, 304 1st Street, Corwith, IA; continuing until 3:00 p.m.
Jeradline was born January 17, 1947, in Forest City, Iowa the daughter of Michael and Agnes (Ptacek) Kumsher. She graduated from Britt High School in 1965 and continued her education at Personal Training Institute of Omaha, NE in 1966. Jeri was united in marriage to Larry Peterson on May 9, 1969 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They lived in Britt before moving to Corwith.
Jeri worked as a bookkeeper for Corwith Red Power from 2000 until her retirement in 2024. In addition to her career there, she was incredibly talented and owned and operated her own upholstery business for 34 years. Jeri’s life revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren, and she cherished time spent with friends. She loved being outdoors and could often be found in the kitchen baking and canning. After retiring, Jeri discovered a new favorite pastime—visiting the casino. Jeri and her husband, Larry “Hoot,” were also members of a card club, an activity they both greatly enjoyed.
Jeri is survived by her children, Angela Hain and Nick Gordon of Osage, IA; sons, Scott Peterson of Corwith, IA, and Kelly Peterson (Tiffany Mueller) of Albert Lea, MN; four grandchildren, Justin Hain (Kelly Banks) of Lakewood, CO, Jordan (Abbey) Hain of Kensett, IA, Chance Gordan of Osage, IA, and Keira Peterson of Albert Lea, MN; her three sisters; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jeri is preceded in death by her parents Michael and Agnes Kumsher, mother and father-in law, Reuben and Anna Peterson; her husband Larry “Hoot” (September 24, 2025); along with her brother and sisters.
Jeri was a very kind and gentle person who loved life and will be greatly missed by many.
