TIPTON – Eldon Jay Beers, age 94, passed away late Saturday evening Jan. 13, 2024 at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Tipton United Methodist Church with Pastor Kerri Sandusky officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 until service time at the church. Private burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, rural Tipton.

Eldon was born March 2, 1929 in Flint Michigan to Burdette and Bonnie (Benner) Beers. He married Maxine Hoeft in 1949 and to that marriage Marge, William and Ed were born. They later divorced. He married Margaret (Jo Ann) Hanna on August 24, 1957 at Grant Lutheran Church near Woden, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife Jo Ann; children Beth Ann (Bill) Kettelkamp of Marion, David (Ruth Ann) of Stanwood, Marjorie (Byron) Nelson of Little Falls, MN, William (Nancy) of Albert Lea, MN, and Edward (Margie) of Blain, MN; grandchildren Michael Johnson, Rainya Johnson Strack, Emily Nelson, Benjamin Beers, Maxwell (Holly) Beers, Jenika (John) Bowman, Kelli (Joe) Bailey, Ryan (Korbin) Beers, Tracy (Eva) Riherd, Karen (Jeremy) Danley, Nicolette Riherd, Luke Kettelkamp, Lindsay (Steve) Jordan, Eagle Beers, Ashley Beers, and Emily (Colton) Lampe; many great grandchildren; and his brother Bernard (Pam) of Sulphur Springs, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Daniel; brother Warren and his wife Anna Mae Beers; and sister-in-law Francis Beers.

Eldon served his country first in the Army from 1948 – 1958 working on the 155 Howitzer, then in the Navy Reserves 25thBatallion as a Seabee for 23 years. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge 315 previously serving as Master, the Shriners, and the Bethel-Garner American Legion. His hobbies included being a private pilot and riding motorcycles, in which he set a record driving from New York City to San Francisco. Eldon was a story teller to anybody that would listen!
