Elaine F. Olson, 88, of Garner, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2024 at her home under hospice care.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct, 15, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with Rev. Scott Kozisek officiating. Inurnment will be at Concord Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Elaine Florence Olson, the daughter of Ole and Florence (Paulson) Ashland, was born May 6, 1936, in Clear Lake. She attended country school south of Clear Lake and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1954. After graduation, she worked at Graham’s Department Store. In 1956 she married William B. Wreghitt in Clear Lake. They lived in Ventura, and a son was born to this union, Bill. Elaine worked in the office at Dewey Electric for a few years. After Bill passed away in 1963 she continued to live in Ventura.

On July 8, 1968, she married Jim Olson in South Dakota. They made their home in Garner, and a daughter, Jennifer, was born to this union. Elaine worked at Rasmuson’s Furniture in Garner and North Iowa Printing until her retirement. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities, traveling and coffeeing with her friends.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, LWML, St. Paul Choir and the Garner VFW Auxiliary.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Golien (Mat Formanek) of Clear Lake; son, Bill (Lori) Wreghitt of Ventura; stepdaughter, Jean Elliott of Glendale, WI; step-son, James (Barb) Olson of Belgium, WI; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Bill and Jim; brother, Robert Ashland; sister, Jeannette Caspers; and two step- daughters, Barbara Schiller and Deb Olson.
