Dennis G. McCabe

MOLINE, IL – Dennis G. McCabe, 70, of Moline, IL, formerly of Garner, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022 in Davenport, IA.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in the spring.  Cataldo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dennis Gregory McCabe, the son of Maurice and Maxine (Leeck) McCabe, was born October 6, 1951 in Fort Dodge.  The family lived on an acreage near Barnum until 1956 when they moved to Garner. Dennis graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 1969 where he was active in sports including long distance running.  He attended the University of Iowa on a track scholarship.  After college, he moved to Davenport and was employed for the City of Davenport.  He later worked at John Deere in Rock Island, IL as a machinist. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

Dennis is survived by his mother, Maxine of Garner; four brothers, Pat (Kathleen) McCabe of Mankato, MN, Gary McCabe of Garner, Ron McCabe of Garner and Doug (Dianne) McCabe of Garner; nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Tina Moncivais of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice in 2008; a nephew, Joseph McCabe; and uncles and aunts, Leonard (Doris) Leeck, Leo (Geneva) McCabe, Emmett (Marj) McCabe, Lawrence (Alice) McCabe, Ray (Ruby) McCabe, Eileen (Bob) Lane and Mary Margaret (William) Collins.
