GHV Takes 2nd in Volleyball Tournament

Garner – The Cardinals volleyball team (4-2) hosted an eight-team tournament on Saturday, August 26th, taking second place overall and going 4-1 on the day. 

Teams in attendance included GHV, North Iowa, Northwood-Kensett, West Fork, Newman Catholic, North Union, Rockford, and West Hancock. 

The Cards started the day with a match against Newman Catholic (0-2). The Cards took the first set 21-16 before dropping the second 19-21. In the defining match, the Cards claimed the win by a 15-9 margin.

In match two, the Cards played North Union (1-1), cruising to a 21-18 first set and 21-10 second set win. 

For the third match, GHV drew West Fork (0-4). The Warhawks came out swinging, taking the first set by a score of 23-21. The Cards took set two 21-13, and the third 15-7. 

By this point in the day the Cards were rolling. They took on Rockford in match four, defeating them 21-18 in the first set and 21-17 in the second.

A tough draw saw the Cardinals rematched against North Iowa for the second time in a week. The Cards lost in two, falling 19-21 and 15-21.
