Marilyn Howell
Marilyn June Howell, age 94, passed away Wednesday, June 21st 2023 at the Mill Pond Skilled Nursing Center in Ankeny.
In accordance with Marilyn’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
Marilyn was born in Beauford, MN, to Max and Cora Runke on June 14th, 1929, and was the youngest of seven children. On September 3rd, 1950, Marilyn was married to Charles Dietz. They owned and operated a pharmacy in Truman, MN. Charles passed away from cancer in November of 1964. Marilyn later attended Mankato State College and earned her Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Speech Audiology and was a Speech Clinician in Mason City, Iowa.
Marilyn went on to marry Gerald Howell on June 15th 1974, and together they owned the business of Steel and Automation in Garner until they retired in 1984.
Marilyn was an avid reader and enjoyed world travels, but her greatest love was spending time with her family.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; her 2nd husband, Gerald; and her son, Chuck; three brothers and three sisters. Marilyn was survived by her children, Jane (Dan) Quarberg of Gilbert, AZ and Jerry (Angie) Dietz of Ankeny, IA. five grandchildren; Erik (Liza) Quarberg, Carly (Adam) Brightwell, Alex Dietz, Andrew Dietz and Christina (Grayson) Mueller, and three great-grandchildren Leo Quarberg, Logan Quarberg and Pippa Brightwell.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of your choosing in loving memory of Marilyn.
