Rosemond Abels, 93, of Kanawha, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the Kanawha Community Home.

Funeral services for Rosemond Abels will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Wright Christian Reformed Church, 1730 East 130rdStreet in rural Kanawha, with Pastor Jason Semans officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

During a snow storm, Rosemond Margery Abels, daughter of Ralph and Trena (Ohden) Abels, was born on February 22, 1929, in rural Dows. Her family settled on a farm near Kanawha when she was seven years old. She attended country school and graduated from Corwith High School in 1946, and completed one year at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Upon the death of her father in 1950, Rose faithfully cared for her mother for twenty years. She then became a caregiver for many others in the area until she retired.

Gardening, crocheting, and baking bread were some of the favorite hobbies for Rose. The family always enjoyed her German Zwieback, twice baked bread. She enjoyed the country life and was blessed to live on the farm until age 92.

Although she did not have children of her own, she dearly loved her nieces and nephews. And as the next generation came along, she enjoyed having them in her life.

Rose will be remembered for her deep faith in knowing Jesus as her Savior. She was a member of Wright Christian Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday School and helped with Calvinettes. In later years she enjoyed listening to the many Bible radio programs. She filled her notebooks with her Bible studies.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her four brothers and their wives, Dirk aand wife Esther, Eugene and wife Dorothy, Earnest and wife Doris, Ralph Jr. and her brother-in-law Richard Berleen.

Rose is survived by her sister Dorothy (Abels) Berleen; along with many nephews and nieces and their families.
