Jon Wittmeier
Memorial service for Jon Wittmeier of LuVerne was held at 10:30 a.m on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024 at the Corwith Community Center in Corwith. A visitation was 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Corwith Community Center in Corwith. Burial was in the Lu Verne Township Cemetery in Lu Verne.
Jon David Wittmeier was born January 12, 1954, in Britt, Iowa and raised on a farm north of Lu Verne. He was the youngest of five children born to Lee and Viva (Ristau) Wittmeier. Jon graduated from Lu Verne High School with the class of 1972.
On January 18, 1975, he was united in marriage to Julie Nall at First Baptist Church in Corwith, Iowa, with whom he had three children.
Jon worked many farm related jobs growing up alongside his siblings. In 1975 Jon began working for Fort Dodge Roofing. He changed careers a few years later when he started working at MoorMan’s Feed Company and took over the family farm north of Lu Verne. After MoorMan’s relocated, Jon drove school bus for a short time before he began trucking, mainly hauling livestock. In 2007 Jon and his son Tracy created Wittmeier Trucking, and together they also began raising cattle, which was the job he enjoyed the most.
Jon loved to hunt and fish and passed that love on to his children. He enjoyed running coon hounds with his many hunting friends and was a member of hunting clubs. He also very much enjoyed fishing trips with his wife Julie, his daughter Jill, and his two sons Travis and Tracy, along with many more family and friends. Jon also liked horses and enjoyed riding with his grandchildren. Whether it was dance recitals or 4-H livestock shows, Jon and Julie rarely missed any of their grandkids’ events. If you were looking for Jon on a Sunday morning, he could be found cruising the countryside with a good friend.
Jon passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Viva Wittmeier, brother Gary Wittmeier, sister Kathy (Wittmeier) Crail; and in laws Richard and Betty Nall.

He is also survived by his sister Sharol Hefti of Mason City and brother Loren (Lynn) Wittmeier of Texas.
