James R. Cook

Jamie R. Cook, 45, of Britt passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.

Visitation for Jamie Cook will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt.

Jamie Ray Cook, the son of Mark and Julie (Abele) Cook, was born February 13, 1977 in Britt, Iowa. Jamie grew up in Britt and graduated from West Hancock high school with the class of 1995.

After high school, Jamie worked various construction jobs. His youth was filled with fast cars, loud music, skateboarding and being outdoors.  His favorite thing being his 1978 Monte Carlo that his Dad and he spent two years building. 

In 2000 Jamie was in a car accident. This started Jamie’s new journey and was opened up to different people, cultures and ideas.  He has developed friendships and was a social butterfly at the Concord Care Center. He passed on these ideas and qualities to his nephew and nieces.  

Jamie will be missed for his loyal bullheaded lovable self but he was ready to be free.

He is survived by his parents Mark and Julie Cook of Britt; daughter Jordyn and her son Maverick of Colorado; son Kaleb of Riceville; sisters Misty (Anthony) Leerar and children Spencer and Natily of Britt and Andrea Cook (Mike Springer) and children Skylarr and Meika of Britt; grandmother Mary Cook; aunts and uncles Jean Abele, Ron (Deb) Abele, Joseph (Jane) Cook, Karen (Dan) Peterson, Steven (Jill) Cook and Terry Cook along with extended family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Loren and Beryl Abele, paternal grandfather Ralph Cook, Sr and uncle Ralph Cook, Jr.
