Gregory Trulson

Greg was a phenomenal husband, dad, grandpa, friend, and according to him, the owner of the most perfect eyebrows ever known to man. He will be remembered for his faith in God, incredible hugs, generosity, razor-sharp wit, unmatched sense of humor, quick one-liners, playful sarcasm, the gift of gab, and the sayings 'I'll let you in on a little secret' and ‘Are you eyeballing me?’

Greg owned and operated Trulson Trucking. He enjoyed talking for hours to friends and fellow truckers while on the road. The conversations even continued while he was outside of his truck unloading his trailer.

Greg was a proud player of the 1986 State 1A runner up football team for Britt. When he moved to Missouri, he played rugby for the Kansas City Rugby Football Club. He shared stories with his friends and family about his rugby days which brought a smirk to his face.

Greg was always up for a good time no matter how crazy the adventure or idea, some of which were not repeated. He had fun taking Jackie on rides around Winterset on their Harley wanna-be, AKA the scooter. He loved working on outdoor projects and brought Jackie’s creative ideas to life.

Greg cherished spending time with his grandsons, from watching them play sports to eating ice cream with them. When they were young they would sit on his lap and he would playfully feed them ice cream saying ‘One bite for you, two for me’. They would stare at Grandpa Greg wide eyed, while he slowly ate his second bite, not so patiently waiting their turn.

Greg is a member of the Winterset First United Methodist Church where he enjoyed helping with Wednesday night suppers, and the 'shhhhh girls' who always made him smile.

Greg is survived by his wife Jackie, daughter Ashleigh (Justin) Venn, daughter Traci (Nick) Grillet, grandsons Alex, Hunter, and Kal, in-laws Jerry and Judy Cole, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is also survived by very special people who he called family.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 9th, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset, Iowa.

After the service, the family invites everyone to a celebration of life luncheon at the church. If you cannot attend the service, please feel free to join them for lunch to spend time sharing stories and favorite memories about Greg. The family encourages casual/comfortable attire.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his honor to either; 'Husky Hoops' which supports the Winterset boys basketball team that Greg loved to watch, or the Winterset Methodist Food Pantry.
