GHV Boys Cross Country head to state

OELWEIN - The GHV boys cross country team qualified for the 2A state meet Thursday night, after a fantastic team showing landed the team in third place. 

With a team total of 69 points, they narrowly missed first-place Oelwein who had 63. Denver finished second at 66 and Anamosoa had 95. The meet featured 10 other teams, who did not qualify for state. 

Connor Hammitt was first across the checkers for GHV, 17 seconds outside of first place. He finished third with a time of 17:03, an 11-second PR.

Zach Flatebo also placed well, finishing fifth with a time of 17:19.

Bronson Buitenwerf placed 16th with a time of 18:09, matching his PR. 

Scylar Schulze placed 21st with a time of 18:19.

Next up was 24th-place Jonah Pringnitz at 18:20, a 14-second PR.

Caleb Good placed 51st with a time of 19:14.

Garrett Heller placed 60th at the 19:38 mark. 

The Cards will compete at the 1A and 2A state meet Friday, Oct. 28 at Fort Dodge.
