George "Bud" Campbell

George Campbell
George Arlyn “Bud” Campbell of San Juan Capistrano, CA, passed away on November 1, 2025, in Mission Viejo, California. After 91 years of living, he was ready to go home.
George was born on April 11, 1934, in Kanawha, Iowa, to George S. Campbell and Leona M. Mozack, and was later raised by his mother and stepfather, Richard Hansen. He married the love of his life, Donna Belle Lukas, on July 25, 1953, in Garner, Iowa, and together they shared 60 years filled with love, friendship, and travel.
He attended Britt High School, studied mechanical engineering at Iowa State University, and earned a degree in drafting from Dunwoody College. George served nearly two years in the U.S. military during the Korean War and built a career as a draftsman and in property development.
George was the consummate family man—traveling with his wife, a fixture at his children’s games and tournaments, and opening his home to dozens of foster children. Favorite family vacations included camping at Carlsbad State Park and visits to the cabin in Twin Peaks.
George is survived by his children, George “Tony” Anton Campbell and Carolyn Mary Castillo; nine grandchildren; an ever-growing number of great-grandchildren; and his sister, Joy (Campbell) Mays. He is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Donna; his daughter, Sue Ellen; his half-sister, Kathy (Hansen) Carlberg; his parents, George S. Campbell and Leona M. Mozack; and his stepfather, Richard Hansen.
Never one to be fussed over, George asked that we not grieve him, but clarified that we are allowed to miss him. In that spirit, the family will gather to remember and miss him at Carlsbad State Park this April.
