Florence L. Weaver, 98, of Garner, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Summit House Assisted Living in Britt.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 13, 2025, at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner with Rev. Brian Lund officiating. Burial will be at Concord Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Florence Lucille Weaver, the daughter of Wallace and Olive (Lenning) Renberg, was born August 4, 1927, in Comfrey, Minnesota. At the age of 10, she moved with her family to Clear Lake and enjoyed having running water and electricity for the first time. Florence graduated from
Clear Lake High School in 1945 and attended beauty school in Mason City for a year. She then moved to Waverly and did hair until moving to Buffalo Center to work in a beauty salon. She also worked at a diner called Witke’s where she met her future husband, Elwin. On November 27, 1948, they were married in Clear Lake. They lived on Elwin’s parents' farm south of Garner, where they raised their four children. In 1986, they moved into Garner. Florence and Elwin enjoyed many years vacationing at their cabin on Lake of the Woods, Canada. She also enjoyed doing yard work, hand quilting and coffeeing with friends and family. Florence loved her family more than anything.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Women’s Fellowship
Florence is survived by her children, Craig (Lois) Weaver of Garner, Jayne (John) Phillips of Ankeny, and Brent (Rosemary) Weaver of Garner; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; her sister-in-law, Barb Renberg of Henderson, NV; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwin, June 13, 2010; her parents; son, Kim Weaver; great-grandson, Evan; sister, Eunice Duesenberg; and brothers, Art and Ronald Renberg.
