COVID-19 proclaimations for the City of Britt

Mayor of Britt Ryan Arndorfer issued two Emergency Proclaimations in light of reccomendations from President Donald Trump and Gov. Kim Reynolds. 

Here are the details you need to know from those proclaimations:

1. A state of emergency or public danger exists within the City of Britt because of the threat of the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

2. Based on CDC recommendations, gatherings of fifty (50) or more people are strongly discouraged until further notice. 

3. As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, we recognize that some of our customers are in a position where they are unable to work. As a result, the City of Britt is discontinuing delinquent water service shutoffs for the next 30 days, due to non-payment, to ensure citizens have the ability to practice recommended personal hygiene measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

4. Beginning on Wednesday, March 18th, all city buildings will be closed to public access until further notice. This includes City Hall, the Fire Station, Police Dept., Public Works Dept. etc. City staff will continue to work regular hours. Residents may do business with the city via telephone by calling 641-843-4433, via e-mail by using brittclerk.dsawyer@gmail.com, or by utilizing the payment options on our website and the dropbox located outside city hall.

5. City council meetings will be discontinued until April 7th.

6. The Public Library will be closed beginning on Wednesday, March 18th until further notice. Library staff will accept requests for loans via e-mail at brittpubliclibrary@mchsi.com. Returns may be placed in the exterior drop box if needed.

7. All City Parks are closed until further notice.

8. This Proclamation of Emergency may be modified and/or superseded by future proclamation of the Office of the Mayor of Britt as future events warrant. 

9. Any violation of any proclamation of the Office of the Mayor of the City of Britt, Iowa, shall be enforceable by the Britt Police Department and any violation of the same shall be a violation of Section 372.14(2) of the Code of Iowa (2019) and punishable as a simple misdemeanor.
