The Britt Police Department has opened up an investigation in regards to the conduct of an individual while employed by West Hancock Community School District.

On June 14, the police executed a search warrant in the 300 Block of Main Ave South, according to a press release on June 15.

The department stated in the release that the investigation is still ongoing and that no other information will be released at the time and that there is no direct or active threat to the community.

The search warrant appears to be connected to a social media post made by a West Hancock student.

The student, a minor, alleges the individual in question sent multiple inappropriate emails over the course of six months in 2021.

The Britt Police Department encourages anyone who believes they have information to aid the investigation to send an email to info@brittiowapd.org.
